Calm, Mindful, Empowering Birth

Elizabeth Vander Martin - Birth Doula
Serving the Northfield, Lakeville, and surrounding areas

About Elizabeth

My passion for birth began the day I learned I was pregnant with my first. I learned all that I could, determined to have a natural birth experience. 24- hours into labor I opted for an epidural. I stand by my decision, but wanted a natural birth even more with my second. After countless more hours of training and research, I felt prepared and confident.  I gave birth to my second, naturally, without pain, and in 3 hours from start to finish.

Six months later I was attending my sister's VBAC

birth as her doula and knew this was the job for me.

I believe that women are made to birth. I would be honored to guide you through your birth and help you feel mindful, calm, and empowered.

Digest with a doula is a time to meet with me in person or virtually to talk about whatever you need to talk about. I have found that it is hard to discuss difficult topics surrounding pregnancy/birth without harmful or unhelpful feed back from others. So weather you want to talk about how uncomfortable you are, fears about birth, or want to digest a previous birth, I am here for you. I come as a birth professional without judgment to be a supporter of your feelings.

Frequently Asked Q uestions

What is a Birth Doula?

A birth doula is a professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support to a woman and her partner before, during, and after childbirth. They are not medical professionals, but rather serve as a continuous presence and advocate for the birthing person, helping them to have a positive and empowering birth experience. Doulas may provide comfort measures such as massage, breathing techniques, and positioning suggestions, as well as help with communication and decision-making during labor and delivery.
